Hello,
This message contains some important updates regarding PGHostingUK.com

Changes at PGHostingUK.com

I am please to be able to announce PGHostingUK.Com has recently been acquired by Amotherby Computer Services.

So what does this mean for you?

Initially very little. We have taken on the systems set up and maintained by PGHostingUK and will initially continue to utilise everything as normal. We will not be moving servers so there will be absolutely no interruption to your hosting service. We will also be continuing to use all support methods previously used by PGHostingUK but you will benefit from the availability of the larger support team from Amotherby Computer Services. We will not be changing any prices or packages.
So overall you should see very little difference to your hosting and excellent support!
In the future we will have some great additions to your service but I will keep them under wraps for now...

So who are Amotherby Computer Services?

We are a small but perfectly formed team. The business was started in 2004 and primarily focused on support. We have been involved in hosting since 2005 and have in the past only catered for people looking for fully managed hosting. We have our Linux shared hosting platform and brand under testing currently so in the near future we will be able to offer hosting on both windows using Helm (as you are hosted now) but also Linux using the Plesk control panel.

Finally

I would like to thank you for you custom with PGHositngUK and look forward to serving you well into the future.
If you have any questions an queries or even any issues you would like to raise please feel free to email me direct at Nick [*at*] AmotherbyComputers.co.uk

Hi ...

im having a few problems with asp Email, i have a script on 2 seperate sites that are hosted with you (not related in any way except i manage both sites) but i can not seem to use the script to send mail outside of PGhosting if that makes sence

let me try explaining it this way ...

I have 2 sites with PGhosting, rdaphoto.co.uk and onepagemedia.co.uk

if i send mail from RDAphoto to onepagemedia than it goes fine, as does onepage to RDA, and also RDA to RDA works fine

the problem arrises when i try to use the form to send emails to my ISP (blueyonder/virginmedia) or to hotmail/yahoo/

nothing happens, no error, just nothing

anychance you could look into this for me, it was working fine the other week, but now nothing

ive been doing a lot of testing on the RDA site (using paypal shopping cart to send emails to customers) and i was using sandman112[at]blueyonder.co.uk to test everything, is there a timeout or limit thing that i might have triggered with trying to send soo many emails to the same address in a short space of time ???

thanks

In Helm, you will now see two options for ASP.Net on the website settings page. The first is marked "Version 1.1" and the second marked "Version 2.0 / 3.0 / 3.5". The latter option will allow sites written for any of these versions to work.

We recommend all customers provide an email address that is not hosted by us - so we can contact you in the event of an outage. We also ask that you provide a contact telephone number. You can check your personal details via the “Personal Details” section in the Helm Control Panel.

Support over Christmas/New Year Period
----------------------------------------------------------
At this time of year we get asked what happens if there are any problems over the Christmas holiday period. The simple answer is that it is the same as any other time of the year. If there is a problem, we will be alerted and take action as usual. The support response times for non-urgent tickets may be a bit longer over the holiday, but you will always receive a response to your enquiries. Where possible, we do ask that any non-urgent queries are left until after the main holidays (25th & 26th December and the 1st January), but if you need your query looked at immediately then please do not hesitate to contact us in the normal way.
The web based helpdesk (http://helpdesk.pghostinguk.com/) is always the best method to contact us via, as you can specify a priority level for your query. E-Mail is the next best alternative, although all emails go into our queue at the "normal" priority as you can not specify a higher or lower priority. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
----------------------------------------------------------
That’s all for this newsletter from everyone at PGHostingUK we would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

It has been a great year for PGHostingUK - we have continued to grow as expected. 2008 is going to be a really exciting year for us. I’d personally like to thank everyone for your continued custom and support throughout 2007.

Seasons Greetings!

Dear Customer,

Over the last few months the amount of email handled via our mail server has increased dramatically, more than half of email passed through our mail server are unsolicited emails (spam).

The increased amount of email is placing lots of pressure onto our systems and causing our spam filtering to become less effective. One of the major factors is the use of catch-all email accounts. This is where one email address will accept mail for anything sent to a domain. Many domains make use of catch-all when many customers do not even know it is in use.

As part of our on-going commitment to improve the stability of the Windows Mail service we will be removing the use of catch-all from HELM on Sunday 9th December 2007.

We will also be removing existing catch-all accounts from Helm unless you have a specific case for making use of catch-all. If you simply use catch-all for forwarding all email as it's convenient we recommend making use of email forwarding - which can be setup via the HELM Control Panel.

If you believe you have a strong case to continue using a catch-all email account please submit a ticket to our Helpdesk, stating your domain name and the email account that is making use of catch-all, we will then review your case. If you do not contact us before Sunday 9th December 2007 your catch-all account will be removed.

We would also ask all customers to remove email accounts from Helm that are no longer in-use, you can check email accounts that are setup via Helm > Domains > yourdomain.com > POP3 Email Accounts.

In order to further improve the stability of the email service we will be migrating the current mail server to new hardware and changing the way we currently filter spam. A further email will be sent regarding this work later on in the month.

If you have any specific questions or concerns please do not hesitate to get in touch via our web based Helpdesk (http://helpdesk.pghostinguk.com/).

Warm Regards,

Today it is exactly three years ago since PHP 5 has been released. In those three years it has seen many improvements over PHP 4. PHP 5 is fast, stable & production-ready and as PHP 6 is on the way, PHP 4 will be discontinued.

The PHP development team hereby announces that support for PHP 4 will continue until the end of this year only. After 2007-12-31 there will be no more releases of PHP 4.4. We will continue to make critical security fixes available on a case-by-case basis until 2008-08-08. Please use the rest of this year to make your application suitable to run on PHP 5.

For documentation on migration for PHP 4 to PHP 5, we would like to point you to our migration guide. There is additional information available in the PHP 5.0 to PHP 5.1 and PHP 5.1 to PHP 5.2 migration guides as well.
